Resumo
Introdução: O câncer destaca-se como uma das principais causas de morbimortalidade no Brasil, com estimativa de 781 mil novos casos anuais para o triênio 2026 a 2028. O encaminhamento tardio aos cuidados paliativos compromete o manejo de sintomas e gera ineficácia terapêutica. Objetivo: Analisar os benefícios da integração precoce dos cuidados paliativos frente aos desfechos do encaminhamento tardio em pacientes oncológicos. Materiais e Métodos: Revisão integrativa da literatura guiada pela estratégia PICO, com buscas realizadas em setembro de 2026 nas bases PubMed, BVS/LILACS, PEDro e SciELO. Incluíram-se estudos primários originais em português, inglês e espanhol publicados entre 2021 e 2026. Resultados: Foram selecionados 38 artigos originais (13 nacionais e 25 internacionais). A paliação precoce promoveu melhora sustentada da qualidade de vida global, preservação do status funcional (KPS/PPS), controle proativo de sintomas, redução de 35% a 42% nas internações de emergência e fúteis em UTI, além de favorecer o planejamento avançado de cuidados (ACP). Conclusão: A paliação precoce constitui uma abordagem essencial para a preservação da dignidade e autonomia do paciente oncológico, superando os danos do encaminhamento tardio.
