Abstract

We must make it clear that anesthetic induction constitutes a critical stage of general anesthesia in medical practice, being responsible for the transition from the patient's state of consciousness to unconsciousness, analgesia and muscle relaxation. This process involves complex pharmacological and physiological interactions in the body, requiring individualized choice of anesthetic agents. This work reviews the main drugs used in induction, their pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties, in addition to discussing specific strategies in different clinical scenarios, including critically ill, pediatric and obstetric patients. Dose tables and relevant direct citations from the literature are included, aiming for academic depth.
