Abstract

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) presents characteristics that may hinder care in health services, especially in urgent and emergency contexts. This article aims to discuss the importance of identification through wristbands for patients with ASD in Primary Health Care Units and hospitals, in both the public and private systems, highlighting their relevance to safety, communication, and prioritization of care. The analysis is based on scientific evidence and practices adopted in healthcare institutions in the United States. The results indicate that proper identification can reduce errors, improve clinical communication, and promote more inclusive and humanized care.
