Abstract

This article addresses the relationship between assistive technology, childhood cerebral palsy, and pedagogical intervention. The main objective is to identify, within this theme, the subtopics related to research methodologies, theoretical frameworks, and existing gaps in the literature. The methodology adopted consists of a literature review based on the analysis of scientific articles published between 2008 and 2016, selected from the SciELO and Google Scholar databases. Six academic articles were analyzed, chosen for their relevance and alignment with the topic.

The results indicate that the most recurring subtopics include the role of assistive technology as a tool for mediating learning, the adaptation of teaching materials, and the impact of these resources on academic performance and quality of life of students with cerebral palsy. The predominant methodologies in the reviewed studies were bibliographic research, as well as qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis. Six articles were analyzed, drawing on authors such as Sassaki, Freire, Rotta, and Bersch, who emphasize inclusion and the use of assistive technologies.

It was found that assistive technology promotes communication and autonomy; however, gaps remain regarding the role of the psychopedagogue, research production in other regions of the country, and the development of accessible and low-cost resources. It is concluded that assistive technology represents an important support in promoting educational accessibility, significantly contributing to the cognitive and social development of children with cerebral palsy, provided that it is integrated into sensitive, inclusive, and well-grounded pedagogical practices.
