Abstract

The practice of podiatry involves therapeutic interventions that frequently require effective local pain management. The needle-free anesthesia technique, utilizing a pressurized pen (jet injection), represents an innovation that allows for the distribution of local anesthetics with less invasiveness and higher patient acceptance. This article aims to present a critical review of this technique's application in podiatry, covering everything from its physical-pharmacological principles to specific clinical scenarios—including the diabetic foot, geriatrics, pediatrics, sports podiatry, and children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Furthermore, it discusses the Brazilian legal framework, social impact, and economic implications for professional practice. The study concludes with recommendations for the safe incorporation of the technique under clinical and regulatory support.
