Abstract

Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs) constitute one of the primary contemporary challenges for patient safety and the sustainability of healthcare systems (BRASIL, 2021; WHO, 2022). Hand hygiene (HH) is recognized as the single most impactful and cost-effective measure to interrupt the chain of pathogen transmission (PITTET et al., 2021). This article analyzes the epidemiological relevance of HH, the factors influencing professional compliance, and the monitoring and educational strategies necessary for reducing hospital morbidity and mortality.
