Abstract

This study aimed to analyze and compare the sociodemographic profile, sexual behavior, and contraceptive practices among female university students from Law, Dentistry, and Medicine (3rd and 5th semesters). This is a descriptive study based on data collected through structured questionnaires administered to participants. The results revealed significant differences among the groups, particularly regarding age, marital status, and reproductive history. Dentistry students were younger and showed higher consistent condom use, whereas Law and Medical students, especially those in the 5th semester, had higher rates of pregnancy history and lower adherence to consistent condom use, often associated with stable relationships and the adoption of long-acting or definitive contraceptive methods. A considerable proportion of participants reported not using any contraceptive method, highlighting persistent vulnerabilities even within academic settings. Regarding knowledge, no significant superiority was observed among health students compared to others, and misconceptions about contraceptive methods were identified. It is concluded that sociodemographic factors directly influence contraceptive practices, and there is a need to strengthen educational strategies within universities to promote safer sexual behaviors and reduce reproductive health risks.
